I'm Mikey, a fashion designer and tailor based in Chicago, Illinois. Before fashion, I had a rudimentary perspective of what fashion could look like and that same perspective applied to my creativity. I’ve learned to push myself to create art beyond that limited scope.

La Fleur Parfait

La Fleur Parfait

Coming in Spring 2025:

“La fleur parfait” is a collection that expresses the ideas of environmental degradation and Anthropocene. Both rely heavily on the interaction between humans and nature, and the impact that humans have on nature. Much like the intertwined paths of these themes, I aim to tell the story of a garden- like habitat; that is simple but complex, and beautifully untouched by man. It houses a stunning host of plants including the “Perfect Flower,” flora containing both male and female reproductive organs, meaning it doesn’t need another flower to reproduce and populate its environment.

Can you imagine it? The vibrant colors of tulips in bloom, the wind lightly swaying day-lilies back and forth, busy bees stealing sweet nectar from the fragrant orchids, and the sound of a stream in the distance bringing fresh spring water to the life filled soil. It’s the embodiment of peace, but the organized chaos of man had different plans for it. Men in their power suits, began to destroy the beautiful terrain for their own agenda: industrialization. Over time, however, nature evolves and adapts to the industry man has created in its once beloved habitat, and inevitably nature reclaims and restores the beauty that man formerly stole.

I communicate each section of this story through a singular garment exploring the use of color, structure and movement to represent the relationship between industrialization and environmental evolution, masculine and feminine elements and shapes, and texture through layered paint.
